I am a journalist based in Maryland and director of the International Journalists’ Network at the International Center for Journalists in Washington, D.C.

A former managing editor of American Journalism Review, I have lived and worked as a journalist in Ljubljana, Slovenia and Mexico City. I’ve also lived in Calcutta, India and in Belize, where I served as a Peace Corps Volunteer.

My writing has appeared in The Wall Street Journal Europe, American Journalism Review, the Los Angeles Times, the Baltimore Sun, Conde Nast Traveler, Travel+Leisure and in other publications from Maryland to Mexico.

I’m a graduate of the Master’s degree program in Public Affairs Reporting at the University of Maryland’s Philip Merrill College of Journalism.
